Bicester Good Neighbour Scheme is a simple, positive solution to the isolation felt by some older people in our area.
We are looking for friendly, reliable people who are over 18. No experience is necessary but good listeners and those with practical or gardening skills will always be welcome.
It only takes a couple of hours each week to make a huge difference to an older person’s life.
We offer befriending and help with simple day-to-day tasks. Call or email us now to apply or find out more about volunteering.
We carefully match our volunteers and BGNS friends, where possible, linking people with similar backgrounds or interests.
If you are a jobseeker or student, this is a great opportunity to gain valuable experience. Volunteering is one of the best things a potential new boss can see on your CV.
Volunteers regularly talk about the 'feel good factor' generated by helping someone in their community:
"…by being a volunteer with the BGNS I am in a win, win situation. I give up a little of my time to someone who needs it and have the pleasure of knowing that I am helping them. I have also made new friends."
"Just spending a couple of hours a week volunteering makes such a difference to their lives, and I get so much satisfaction from it."
