Bicester Good Neighbour Scheme helps isolated older people in the town and villages nearby.
Many of our BGNS friends are in their 80s and 90s; they may have limited mobility, sensory impairment, or just don’t feel safe going out on their own. They may live alone following bereavement, and very often have no relatives on-hand to provide the social contact and practical help they need. That is when BGNS steps in and introduces them to one of our fantastic volunteers.
There is no charge for the help we provide, so we keep our costs low. We source funding and grants to cover the essential work of our Scheme Coordinator, which includes home visits and DBS paperwork.
